Good afternoon, y’all! So I think I’m going to try posting something in Ilocano or Tagalog every Friday. As you may know by now, I am slowly trying to teach myself how to speak Ilocano and Spanish. So far, I’ve realized that Ilocano isn’t as hard as I thought. That’s probably because I’ve heard it being spoken around me for my entire life but with that said, it’s never been spoken directly to me.
After learning a few words and phrases, I can for sure say it the way my grandma does. Btw, I can perfectly mimick the way my grandma calls for my grandpa. It’s insane how accurate I am, LOL.
Anyhow, how about we get started on our first word or phrase?
Today’s Ilocano phrase is: Naimbag nga malem. – Good afternoon.
In Tagalog, you would say Magandang hapon. – Good afternoon.
I may continue this every week as a way to keep myself in check.
If you speak Tagalog and/or Ilocano and think there is a word or phrase I should know, please let me know!
Stay tuned tomorrow for Spanish Saturday!
Thanks for stopping by!
